Homework Help

Importance -

Homework help is one of the most important contributions parents can make in support of their children's education. It can enhance what they learn in school.

All parents are asked by their children for assistance from time to time. Often, you're asked at the last minute and this can lead to conflict.

How to address it -

Teach your child how to handle it responsibly and routinely. Doing this will spare you and your child a lot of frustration.

Children, like adults, may need some time to relax when they get home. Nevertheless, it's important to have a set time to complete work and study -- the earlier the better.

The sooner it's started, the sooner any problems are identified. This will spare you a marathon session trying to figure it out.

The most common problem I've seen is when the teacher mistakenly introduces new material as homework.

The second most common problem I've seen is when the teacher uses homework as reinforcement and the student misses class that day.
